The Big Welsh Talent Concert

The One Show’s Alex Jones returns to Wales and S4C in October, for the first time since starting her new BBC job, to compere a special homecoming concert staged by S4C for some of Wales’ biggest UK reality talent show achievers.

Alex, 32, who started her career on S4C and has been widely praised for her work presenting the BBC’s nightly magazine show, will present a celebration of Welsh artists seen on different talent TV shows in recent years.

In the concert at the Cardiff International Arena on 24 October, Alex will introduce performances by Rhydian Roberts, star of 2007’s X-Factor, and Shaheen Jafargholi who sang at Michael Jackson's globally televised public memorial service following his appearance on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009.

Other big name singers taking part in the concert include West End star and finalist of Eurovision - Your Country Needs You, Mark Evans; Sophie Evans, runner up in the BBC’s Over the Rainbow series; Tara Bethan, who also won acclaim on a BBC reality series - I’d Do Anything in 2008; and Laura Sutton who reached the final of ITV’s Stars in Their Eyes in 2005.

There will also be performances by Ysgol Glanaethwy Choir, who came second in the BBC’s Last Choir Standing; and dance troupes Jukebox Juniors and Eclipse from Sky1’s Got to Dance and teenyboppers Starburst who reached the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent this year.

The evening is being organised by Avanti Television, a company well versed in filming large-scale concerts and events, and recently produced the coverage for The Ryder Cup opening concert.

This is a unique opportunity celebrate the amazing array of Welsh talent to the public eye in recent years. To see these dazzling performers all together will be a night of pure entertainment from start to finish.
