2008 was a year of great heights for the Welsh X-Factor star Rhydian Roberts. Rhydian first burst onto our screens competing in X-Factor. He came second to the post but was immediately offered a record contract on Simon Cowell’s label SYCO. What followed for Rhydian was a demanding year of engagements that filled the diary for the rest of the year. From charity concerts, prestigious guest appearances, music videos, to press interviews, it was a whole new world of celebrity for the young man from Pontsenni, Wales. The biggest honour was performing at the Millenium Stadium for the Grand Slam, a dream come true for the star who spent his earlier years as a keen Rugby player.
We followed Rhydian from London to Sweden and over the atlantic to Los Angeles as he worked with the best international Producers to bring a fantastic new album to his eagerly awaiting public. But did the new jet set lifestyle go to his head?
This observational documentary shows a different man to the one portrayed on the X-Factor. We see a man who takes it all in his stride, as Rhydian deals with his new hectic lifestyle of travelling, interviews and performing, but alway makes time to see his family in between. Intimate moments with his family and catching up with old friends reveals the true Rhydian at home.
